2026 September Intake
To meet the growing international demand for Chinese language teachers, facilitate Chinese language education around the world, and support the professional development of Chinese language teachers, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) has established the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (hereinafter referred to as the Scholarship) for eligible Chinese language teachers outside of China. Zhejiang University of Technology, as one of the host institutions for the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship, warmly welcomes outstanding students and current Chinese language teachers to apply for Chinese language studies at our university.
Scholarship Eligibility
1. Non-Chinese citizens.
2. Should be friendly to China, have no criminal record, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the school.
3. Be in good physical and mental conditions and with good academic performance and conduct.
4. Aspiring to work in the Chinese language education and related fields.
5. Aged between 16 and 35 (as of September 1st, 2026 with the special allowance for the age limit of 45 for applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers
Scholarship Category
Master’s Degree in International Chinese Language Education
The program commences in September 2026, with a scholarship duration of up to two academic years.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree. Applicants must score at least 210 on the HSK (Level 5) and 60 on the HSKK (Intermediate Level). Priority will be given to applicants who provide an employment agreement (or equivalent proof) from a teaching institution for post-graduation employment.
One-Year Study Program
The program commences in September 2026, with a scholarship duration of up to 11 months.
International Chinese Language Education: Applicants must score at least 270 on the HSK (Level 3) and possess an HSKK score.
Chinese Language and Literature: Applicants must score at least 180 on the HSK (Level 4) and 60 on the HSKK (Intermediate Level).
Chinese Language Study: Applicants must score at least 210 on the HSK (Level 3). Priority will be given to those who provide an HSKK score.
One-Semester Study Program
Commence in March 2026. Scholarship is subsidized for maximum 5 months.
For the area of International Chinese education or Chinese Language and Literature: applicants shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score is required.
For the area of Taiji Culture: applicants are required to provide HSK test scores. Priority will be given to applicants who also provide HSKK test scores.
Note: In principle, applicants who have received a similar scholarship within three years are not eligible for the One-Semester Study Program.
Coverage and Standard
The scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation fees, living expenses, and comprehensive medical insurance fees.
• ZJUT uses the tuition fees for the education and management of scholarship recipients, cultural programming and HSK tests.
• ZJUT uses the accommodation fees to provide scholarship recipients with free on-campus accommodation. Scholarship recipients may live off-campus upon application and approval from school. Under such circumstances, students are entitled to RMB 700 per person/month paid on a monthly/quarterly basis by school.
• The living allowance is paid to the scholarship recipients by ZJUT on a monthly basis. The monthly allowance for one-year study program students and one-semester study program students is RMB 2,500 per person; that for master’s students in International Chinese Language Education is RMB 3,000 per person.
• The comprehensive medical insurance is purchased by the Host Institutions in accordance with applicable regulations on overseas students stipulated by the Ministry of Education of China. The insurance premium for one-semester study program students is RMB 400 CNY per person, and that for students studying more than one year is RMB 800 per person/year.
Application Materials
1. A scanned copy of the passport photo page;
2. A scanned copy of score reports of the HSK/HSKK tests (within the two-year validity);
3. A certificate of the highest diploma (or proof of expected graduation) and an official transcript;
4. Applicants of the Scholarship for a Master’s Degree in International Chinese Language Education are required to provide two reference letters from professors or associate professors. Priority will be given to applicants who may provide an employment contract with a teaching institution upon completing their studies in China;
5. In-service Chinese language teachers shall provide proof of employment and a reference letter from the employer;
6. Applicants under 18 shall provide certified documents of designation signed by their entrusted legal guardians in China;
7. Physical Examination Form(issued within 6 months);
8. No Criminal Record Certificate(issued within 3 months);
9. Applicants with study experience in China are required to provide a certificate of their academic performance during their study in China (stamped by the institution).
Application Deadline
Applicants must complete their applications on ZJUT application system by May 5th,2026
Application Procedure
1. Starting from March 1, 2026, applicants may log in to the online application system of Zhejiang University of Technology (https://zjut.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx) to submit application materials. Please select the enrollment category as the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship Program.

2. After the materials have been reviewed and approved, the recommendation letter will be sent through the ZJUT application system.
3. Applicants should download the recommendation letter and submit their application materials online via the CIS application website (cis.chinese.cn) on time. The application system will close after the deadline.
4. After completing the application, applicants can log in to the CIS application website to follow the application progress, review comments, and scholarship evaluation results.
5. The final admission results will be sent to applicants via email.
Others
1. In-service Chinese language teachers, if they provide proof of employment and a letter of recommendation from the employer, under equal conditions, priority will be given in admission.
2. Applicants who have received the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate during Chinese Bridge competitions need to submit their application documents along with their scholarship certificates to the Host Institutions directly at the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website.
3. Students who fail to pass the pre-enrollment physical examination, withdraw from school before completing the program, fail to register at the university without prior permission, or suspend their studies will be disqualified for the scholarship.
4. Please ensure the application materials are real and effective, otherwise your admission will be canceled.
