Professor Yu, Vice President of ZJUT, all the leadership of International College and directors of each departments and colleges as well as 57 domestic freshmen attended the opening ceremony. The ceremony was also streamed live online, which allowed all the students to witness this memorable moment. Cai Binbin, the vice dean and the Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch, inaugurated the ceremony. The ceremony kicked off with our glorious national anthem.Professor Yu, Vice President of ZJUT, addressed the welcome speech. She welcomed freshmen from all over the world and introduced Zhejiang and ZJUT. After that, She shared her good wishes to all the students, encouraged them to study hard. She also emboldened them to fully enjoy their lives in China and be the messengers of cultural exchanges and try to foster the relationships between China and other countries.Current student and new students, as representatives, shared their experiences and expectations with a speech. After the ceremony, teacher Si Dongying gave the first ideological and political lesson to the new students. She emphasized the moto of the International College, “Compatibility, Awareness, Learning, and Aspiration”, and tell the unique stories behind the motto, thus showing the profound China traditional culture to students.▲Professor Yu gave welcome speech▲Gurbanov Seyitmyrat gave speech▲ Lunkamba Ilunga Nehemie gave speech▲Charyyev Azat gave speech▲Every freshman wore school badge. They are ZJUTers.▲Photo from opening ceremony▲The first ideological and political lesson

Figure A Story of an Excellent PhD Student who studies in ZJUT
Words from Supervisor, Dr. Mi YanMr. Dwi Hantoko is my first foreign PhD student. Actually, before his admission in ZJUT, he was a visiting student in my group. During his three months stay, his activities was impressive, he did like a full time student for his experiment. So I accepted his application for PhD study, and supplied scholarship for him. In the past three years, he worked hard for his academic work, and get fruitful achievement in publication and awards. Besides his personal research, he also was willing to learn more about industrial technology to attend workshop, train his leadership and ability to assist international symposium organization, establish friendship with lab members to supply favor for others. I always told him ‘do not worry future, if you work hard today’. Now, he already successfully finished his graduation defense, I would like tell him ‘Congratulation, no matter what do you do in future, I will bless you for your health and happiness, and hope you to be a person good for society’.Story of Dwi Hantoko Hi, I am Dwi Hantoko from Indonesia. My major is Chemical Process Equipment in Mechanical Engineering College, Zhejiang University of Technology. At this moment, I would like to share my experience during my stay in China.Fig 1. My personal photo (May, 2019-Library ZJUT)I first came to the Zhejiang University of Technology in 2016 as a visiting student from Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia and worked in Professor Mi Yan’s lab. I was doing research on biomass to solid fuel conversion. There were still a few students under Professor Mi Yan’s supervision at that moment. But, I believe that his lab will be developed better and better in the near future.  At the beginning of 2017, I have decided to pursue my doctoral degree in his group and started my new life as a doctoral student. I was trying to survive in Hangzhou with different languages, new cultural and culinary, and new living styles. I realized that all are amazing, enjoyable, and unforgettable.Fig 2. Waste to Clean Energy Research Members with Visiting Oversea Professors at the Institute of Energy and Power Engineering, ZJUT(November, 2019-Guang C Building, ZJUT)Fig 3. Hiking to Hangzhou West Hills National Forest Park(September, 2019)As the main task for the doctoral program is conducting research, I started to learn solid waste management and waste disposal technologies together with my lab mates since the research in this lab focuses on solid waste treatments. I was very grateful that I have received many opportunities to attend many national and international forums, thus I could learn how do they conduct research, how do they solve their research problems, and how do they maintain the quality of research.Fig 4. Waste Cleaning Challenge with All Research Members(March, 2019-ZJUT Pingfeng Campus)Also, I am thankful for the chance to visit many waste-to-energy industries in China, I got a lot of experiences on the development of waste disposal technologies, the challenges during technology implementation, and etc. Moreover, I also learned a lot about the work ethic of Chinese scholars who work very hard and persistent to achieve significant result.Fig 5. Basket Ball Games between my research group (ZJUT) and Waste to Energy Research Group of Zhejiang University(November, 2018-Sport court, ZJUT Pingfeng Campus)Finally, I could finish my doctoral degree in May 2020. I do hope that all skills, experience, and knowledge that I have obtained during my stay in China will be useful for my future carrier. I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to my supervisors for their patience, support, and guidance during my study. Last, but not least, thanks for the continuous support and encouragement from my beloved families.Fig 7. Visit Industrial Sludge Treatment Plant(April, 2018-Nanjing)Fig 8.
