Application Guidance of Year 2025 for International Student

I General Information

Zhejiang University of Technology is the first provincial and ministerial jointly built university in the eastern coastal region, the first batch of national "Higher Education Innovation Ability Enhancement Plan" (2011 Plan) collaborative innovation center led universities, and the first batch of key construction universities in Zhejiang Province. ZJUT has passed the quality certification of Chinese Higher Education in 2023 and the certification is valid for six years. There are currently 64 undergraduate enrollment majors, covering 12 categories including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, art, and interdisciplinary studies. It has 16 first level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 5 doctoral professional degree authorization categories, 31 first level discipline master degree authorization points, 3 first level discipline master degree authorization points that do not cover second level discipline, 23 master professional degree authorization categories, and 13 post doctoral mobile stations. Graduates who have completed their studies and meet the requirements of the national degree granting regulations will receive corresponding degrees.

1. All English taught programs are marked with “◆” while the rest are taught in Chinese.

2. Those who wish to apply for engineering-related course should have a good background of mathematics, physics and chemistry; those who wish to apply for courses related to economics and management should be excellent in Mathematics.

3. Most English taught programs have requirements in number of students, please select two programs when applying.

4. September intake is available for all programs.

V Requirements for Admission

1. Undergraduate Program

(1) 18-25 years old and hold a minimum of high school diploma, in good health.

(2) Requirements of programs taught in Chinese: HSK4 achieve 180 or above; for those fail to meet the entry requirements (HSK4), after passing the written examination and interview from ZJUT, they will receive one year’s conditional admission, students should pass HSK4 during the one year or they will be regarded as quit. Some majors related to Chinese language and culture require HSK5 or above. Applicants whose compulsory courses were taught in Chinese during secondary education (junior and senior high school) can be exempt from submitting HSK certificate.

(3) Requirements of programs taught in English: 1) Native English Speaker or English as official language, 2) IELTS 5.5/TOEFL 60, 3) Instructed in English at high school 4) Other English Language Competence are accepted by our university.

2. Postgraduate Program (Masters’/PHD)

(1) Master’s degree application: Bachelor’s degree with achieving HSK 5 or higher; PHD Degree application: Master’s degree with achieving HSK 5 or higher, good health condition.

(2) For those applying for programs instructed in English, HSK grading is not a must.

(3) Requirements for programs taught in English: 1) Native English Speaker or English as official language 2) IELTS6.0/TOEFL80 3) Instructed in English at undergraduate period 4) Other English Language Competence admitted by ZJUT.

3. Requirements on nationality

Requirements of the regulations set in the Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC should be met.

(1) Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens, must become foreign citizens before June 30, 2021, and must have lived abroad more than 2 years from June 30, 2021 to June 30, 2025 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year, taking entry and exit stamps as evidence).

(2) If the applicant has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents were both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents was a Chinese citizen, parent’s (with Chinese citizenship) permanent resident in foreign country should be obtained prior to the birth of the applicant. Applicants must have lived abroad more than 2 years from June 30, 2021 to June 30, 2025(more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year, taking entry and exit stamps as evidence).

Note: If the applicant is concluded to have Chinese citizenship by the Chinese public security department after application, admission or enrollment, the applicant will be disqualified from application, admission or enrollment or withdrawal from school will be required.

VII Application Materials

1. Application form with ID photo (fill in online).

2. Photocopy of passport and all the visa pages.

3. Highest education certificate. Graduating students can provide pre-graduation Certificate. The original graduation certificate or notarized copy should be submitted before registration.

4. Transcripts for all the courses in highest education school.

5. Language proficiency certificates. Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must provide the photocopy of HSK certificate. Applicants for English-taught programs must provide grade report of TOEFL or IELTS test, or other proof which can reflect the applicants’ English proficiency (Not required for English native speakers).

6. Health certificate (within 6 month).

7. Non-criminal record certificate.

8. Two recommendation letters in English or Chinese (for graduate application). Letters must include phone number or email address.

9. Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens should submit (1) cancellation certificate of Chinese citizenship (2) current citizenship certificate (3) Exit and Entry Record on passport, from June 30, 2021 to June 30, 2025.

10. Applicant who has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents were both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents was a Chinese citizen should submit:

 (1) Birth certificate of foreign country.

 (2) Chinese parents’ permanent resident certificate of foreign country should be obtained prior to the birth of the applicant.

 (3) Exit and Entry Record on passport, from June 30, 2021 to June 30, 2025.

11. Applicants under the age of 18 (by September 1st, 2025) should submit:

 (1) Letter of Guardian Guarantee and the guardian must be an adult living in Hangzhou.

 (2) A notarized copy of the Guardianship Authorization from the applicant’s parents.

12. If applicants studied in China before, study certificates and transcripts from former schools in China are required.

Tips:

1.Results of international standard tests (e.g. SAT / IB / GCE A-LEVEL / ACT / STPM / GED / UEC / OTHER) or university entrance exams of applicant’s country are accepted. It is strongly recommended to provide the student’s relative ranking or the percentile in the school if the applicant could only submit the test scores from the school.

2. Application documents in other languages must be translated in Chinese or English and notarized.

3. The above application materials need to be uploaded to the application system. The original ones will be checked when doing registration. Those who lack the materials or are inaccurate will not be registered.

4. Zhejiang University of Technology may ask the applicants to submit supplementary materials or take a written examination or interview if necessary.

VIII Admission Method

ZJUT will select the best candidates based on the applicants' highest academic results, language proficiency and written examination or interview results, and determine the list of pre-admitted applicants in batches. Applicants can also log in to the Zhejiang University of Technology's international student admissions system to check. Pre-accepted applicants should remit the registration fee (CNY400) and pre-paid part of the tuition fee (CNY1,000) to the designated bank account of ZJUT within the stipulated time, and upload the remittance voucher to the online application system. After receiving the registration fee and pre-paid tuition fee, the school will issue the “Admission Letter” and “Confirmation Form for Study in China” (JW202). Admission Letter can be downloaded from the online application system. Download link of the electronic Confirmation Form for Study in China (JW202) will be sent to the permanent email address filled in the application system by the applicant. Applicants who give up coming to our school for personal reasons will not get the refund of registration fee and the pre-paid tuition fee.

Reminder: Please be sure to clearly indicate the payment number, name, passport number and other information of the applicant during remittance.

IX Scholarships

1.Chinese Government Scholarships

Chinese government scholarship applicants must apply through the Chinese Embassy or Consulate General in the country where the applicant is located. When filling in the "Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship", you need to fill in "Zhejiang University of Technology" in the first field of "Applicant Institution", Agency Number:10337.

2. Zhejiang University of Technology Freshman Scholarship

Zhejiang University of Technology has established a certain number of freshman scholarships for international students with good academic attitudes and excellent academic results. Please apply on the online application system.

X Insurance

Fee: 800 RMB yuan/academic year

According to the regulations of Ministry of Education, international students who study for one semester or longer must purchase comprehensive medical insurance in the mainland of China as a necessary requirement for their registration for the new semester. Students who fail to purchase the comprehensive medical insurance as required will NOT be registered by the university. Information related to purchasing insurance will be notified in detail before registration. The admitted students should handle insurance affairs strictly according to the instructions on the notice.

XII Registration

At the beginning of September, 2025, the specific time is subject to the "Admission Letter". Applicants should go to the Chinese Embassy (Consulate) to apply for an entry study (X1) visa with an ordinary passport, "Admission Letter", "Confirmation Form for Study in China" (Form JW202). Applicants who submit an expected graduation certificate, a copy of the HSK certificate, and a copy of the English proficiency test certificate when applying, must provide a formal graduation certificate, the original HSK certificate/English proficiency certificate when they register. Applicants will be disqualified if they can not provide the required certificates.
