Psychological Counseling is a way to help, inspire and guide people through language, written words and other ways of communication with special human relations, psychological knowledge and skills, as well as the process of achieving “helping people to help themselves”. We hope you can read the followings patiently which can help you with the counseling smoothly. There are some basic principles you should know:

Principle of Confidentiality 

Psychological counseling is a spiritual communication, and some privacy information will be inevitably involved in counseling. We will not disclose any of your personal information without your permission. Counseling concerned materials (including case record, test data, letters, audios, videos, etc.) will be stored in archives in time and sealed up for safekeeping confidentially. However, according to the relevant provisions, the following cases are the exceptions of confidentiality principles:

• If we made our judgment that you are inclined to hurt yourself or others or the condition is serious which needs to be treated in hospital, necessary measures will be done to prevent the occurrence of accidents under the principle of “Life is first policy”. Or we will also have to discuss with other psychological counselors for the treatment.

•  To preserve the first-hand information, we may record or video the counseling process with your permission. Of course, your personal information involved in the recording will be hidden in case you are identified. All the audios and videos recordings will be used only in professional teaching and case supervision.

• After your identity related information has been hidden and others can’t identify, part of your contents in psychological counseling may be used in case discussion, teaching reference and scientific writing and other academic activities.

• If the court needs some information of yours, we shall cooperate with the investigation. 

Principles of Appointment

• To avoid the unnecessary waiting, you should make an appointment for school psychological counseling ahead of time according to your spare time. You can make an appointment by calling 0571-85290313 (Pingfeng Campus) or 0571-88320833 (Zhaohui Campus). 

• After the reservation succeeds, please go to the counseling room (Room 325 of Yangxian Canteen Room in Pingfeng Campus or Ziliang A117 Room in Zhaohui Campus) on time according to your appointment. The counseling time is 1:30pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm - 8:00pm.

• If you can’t make it to come to the psychological counseling due to some special circumstances, please cancel the appointment through telephone as early as you can. The psychological counseling is a continuous process, and it may require once or repeated times to achieve the effect. Usually, each psychological counseling lasts for 50 to 60 minutes and for the first time, it may be appropriately extended.3. Principles of Referral: 

• Different counselors have different specialties and you can choose your counselor depending on your preferences. If we think the current consultation can’t solve your problem, we will introduce other counselors or treatment mechanism to you.
